We ordered plain nachos for myself carne asada nachos for my husband and a cheese quesadilla for my daughter and this was by far the greasiest plate of food we have ever tasted, we ate a couple of bites and threw the rest in the trash..overpriced..not healthy, no taste other than globs of greasy cheese..the tortilla chips were burnt black in the ends...gross, just gross...even my husband had to toss most of his food in the trash and that's really saying something..he eats just about everything greasy or otherwise and rarely complains........it was more like a plate of semi-meltred greasy globed on cheese with a few burned chips mixed it..yuck...we will never be back.

ORDER THE SHRIMP TACOS!!!! DO IT!!! DO IT NOW!!!! BEST SHRIMP TACOS - EVER!!!!!! Get the combo with rice and pinto beans.......you'll never be disappointed!!! Rice is SO MOIST, almost CREAMY and the BEANS MELT IN YOUR MOUTH with a wonderful rich flavor!! Awesome Selection of Salsa! I've been happily eating here since 2005, and I'm still having constant cravings! We make it a point to eat here every week, ususally Saturday nights which are now "Baja Fish Taco Saturdays" in our family! This is as AUTHENTIC as it gets.....you'll kiss Rubios (and every other Fish Taco wannabe's) GOODBYE!!! Even my Mom (who hates all fish) LOVES their CHICKEN TACOS TO DEATH!!! Seriously YOU WILL CRAVE THIS FOOD!!!!!

The best place to eat in Orange County. This review is simple. Great Salsa, great food, great staff. I am a personal trainer, and they have a lot of items on their menu that are good for people who are watching their waste line too.

Hands down the best mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The meat here is high quality along with some great marinades. However the prices do reflect the quality. One of the few places which has truly authentic guacamole that is actually made of completely 100% REAL avocado. The salsa bar also has a variety of different salsas that are always fresh. mind you the prices should not be compared to a real restaurant as you place your order and sit down and then they bring you your food. Baja Fish Tacos receives 5 stars for quality however a -0.5 for the prices and -0.5 for the variable rice(sometimes undercooked) Total rating 4 stars BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN THE OC

Best Mexican/Fish Taco place around. Everything is great. Freshest Salsa bar anywhere. Wonderful Service. Can't beat eat.

Baja Fish Tacos is the best. My favorite is the Battered Fish Tacos. Why? It is got just the right amount of flaky breading on the outside without it drowning out the fish. The beans and rice are outstanding... the way they make them... the perfect sides. I have been to the Lake Forest location, but I kind of like this location better because the inside is larger and the parking situation is better. Baja Fish Tacos is the best for Mexican Fast Food. 5 stars! Don't forget... buy one beer get the second for free. YAY!

Best fish and/or shrimp tacos on the planet. Best salsa I've ever had (and I've had a LOT of salsa). Best guacamole. They even have a trick to make simple rice taste great. Each time my wife and I eat here, which averages once a week, we try to deconstruct and figure out how they make the simplest-looking dish taste so good. At first you think there's a single trick ingredient, but then you realize the shrimp is fresh and especially flavorful, and they add just the right amount of creamy sauce and cabbage, and the cotija cheese is really special, and each of the salsas (try them all) is amazing, and the tortilla is fresh and warm... and then you realize it's the entire package that is perfect. (If I had any complaint about the food, it's that the clearly fresh salsa oscillates between medium heat some weeks to armor-penetratingly hot on other weeks.) What's not perfect here is the ambiance. Locals love it, and they unfortunately tend to bring uniformed teams of yelling kids right after the ball game, or just yelling kids in general. The line sometimes stretches out the door, but service is fast.

I've been looking all over OC for great fish tacos, and Baja is it! Great marinade on the shrimp--not to mention they are on the larger side and a nice portion. Both the regular fish tacos and the Ensenada style are excellent. Toppings, portion size and salsa bar are all great as well. Nice service every time I've been in, too.

I just moved to Laguna Niguel six months ago to live with my boyfriend who's family has lived here a longg time. I must say I was skeptical when I heard him raving about 'Baja Fish' as being one of the best burritos in Orange County (in his opinion)- but when I went there the first time- I found out why. Their Carne Esada Burritos, and Shrimp Burritos, are SO phenomenal!! I'm sure their other food is too, but I'm so in love with these two I've tried that I can't bring myself to order anything else yet!! The service is friendly and efficient, the decorations are modest and fun- but the FOOD is what makes it all worth it. Along with a delicious meal, they offer a fun and fresh variety of salsa, cilantro, onions, peppers, and other toppings to customize and further enhance your dining experience! I would recommend this as my number one stop in the Laguna area to grab a quality burrito or taco. Even just writing this review is make me want to grab one right now...

Good salsa. Bit of a long line, but they make up for it by bringing out your food quickly.

The real deal. Great food, super friendly staff. We eat here as often as possible. I like the carne asada burrito with black beans and rice. Lots of fresh cilantro and sauces available. Btw they serve basmati rice, not the crappy stuff.

  • Tom T.

Friggin addicted to their fish tacos. Ensenada style tacos come with premium fish filets, lightly battered and fried to golden perfection. Salsa bar is awesome. Their marinated onions totally make the meal. Marinated in lime juice, oregano and jalapeno, these onions are obligatory. Save the Rubio's for your cat.

I went here the other day with my son... eating a vegan diet, I was a bit afraid of the challenge in finding something good to eat. I've ordered veggie burritos at many mexican restaurants and am quite often disappointed. Without meat or cheese, beans and rice can be very boring. Not the case here... my burrito was not only HUGE (enough for at least four meals), it was very tasty!!! It didn't look like they put a lot of veggies on it but nonetheless... it tasted so good! The beans are amazing and the rice cooked to perfection! I opened up my little bundle of joy and trotted to their salsa bar where I added some of their spicy marinated onions and a scoop of each of their fresh salsas... three kinds to be exact... grabbed a fresh jalapeno (very hot and not for the inexperienced) and proceeded to munch away. We had ordered a side of their chips and salsa with some guacamole as well... guac was excellent and the chips light and crispy and salted perfectly. After a completely full belly, I still left with about three pounds of leftovers in my hands. The staff was very friendly and on the ball... the server noticed that we were through eating and without me having to ask he brought over a "to go" box and a bag. I just finished leftover meal number two and still have enough for one more meal... yay!!! I'll definitely be coming back!!! My sons orthodontist is across the street... maybe he'll break a bracket and we can go again next week!

It's great to have a place like Baja in your neighborhood. Don't want to cook? Need some great takeout? How can you miss with a place like this? Fish tacos are, of course, standard fare. They offer three kinds. Battered, grilled, and blackened. Having the same options in a big ole burrito satisfies the bigger appetite. All good and generous portions. If you go here, try the fish tacos.. you can't go wrong. But don't bypass the carne asada or chicken options as well. A 2 taco combo gives you the chance to try both. Beans are pretty good, a bit above average. What else.. oh. Salsa. Several varieties at the salsa bar. Pico de gallo- good. Red- it's omg good. Tomatoes are burnt. Nice heat. Green is also quite good. This location... and I've been to others, is ok for dining in. The staff is great.. many have worked there for years now. Which brings me to my final point... this place is consistently good. Over the years.. never had a bad meal or experience. Can you say that about every place you go to? Funny thing.. on Saturdays, for lunch, it get crowded. Know why? Across the street is the Laguna Niguel traffic court. I've often seen dozens of people traipsing across Crown Valley to get their lunch.

When it comes to Mexican food, other restaurants can't even compete! It's almost unfair. Their service is excellent, their prices are reasonable and their food is as good as it gets. Seriously, do yourself a favor and order the Steak Nachos. They're life changing. Also, every combo comes with a more than generous portion of white rice and beans that will fill your tummy up to the brim, so be careful. Even their salsa is stupid good. I can honestly say there is nothing on the menu that will disappoint so get ballsy and try something new! Oh, and if you're in the mood for desert afterwards (pretty hard to fit) there's a Thrifty Ice Cream right next door, Hollaaaaa.

This place is very good. The fish tasted very fresh and delicious. They have a great salsa bar, tv's and great portions for the price. It'll cost you about $8-$9 for a full meal. Similar to Rubios, but less chain feeling (even though I think they are a chain). They have 2 for 1 beer specials on weeknights which is great. The only knock, and I'm nit picking a bit, is that for my original order I got one beer. I then came back to get a second and they told me it was free because of the special. I had no idea and would've missed out had I not been in the mood for beer #2. It would've been nice if they told me initially that I can get a 2nd beer for free. That is the only reason it didn't get 5 stars, but I recommend it! Also weekday lunch time is crazy (12-1) because of the surrounding businesses.

I haven't been a fan of Mexian food because the chicken is never fresh and this restaurant changed everything for me. Their chicken is always fresh and their shrimp burritos are by far the best. I get take out here every week for lunch. I rarely have Mexican food unless I eat it here. They set the bar as far as I am concerned!

  • Marnie H.

Writing this review based on the shrimp taco. It's amazingly delicious. I could eat it everyday if I could. Hubby usually gets the carne asada burrito or plate and raves about it too. This place is always packed at night- never been there at lunch time. Police seem to frequent it a lot too, so it's very safe. Salsa bar gets a bit messy and empties quickly. Can call ahead and it's ready when you get there.

Love the food here! Service is quick and food is hot and fresh and delicious. Friendly, too! Did I mention the prices are reasonable, too? I get the chicken soft tacos and they are PACKED with meat. They are low enough in calories that I can go here for lunch or dinner and still stay within my calorie count for the day. Love this place!

The Lovely One found this place last time she was in California and made the command decision that we go -- adding yet another five-star decision to a long string of good decisions. Baja Fish Tacos, in addition to other tortilla-centric Mexican fare, serves three kinds of fish tacos: charbroiled fish, blackened fish, and "Ensenada Style" or fried fish. I started at the top and ordered the first two. While they were working on my order I strolled over to the salsa bar to prepare a festive little reception party for my tacos. Pico de gallo, marinated onions, chiles, lemon and lime wedges, chopped cilantro, and two kinds of salsa marked hot. I got a shot of both the red and the green salsa and headed back to my table for a taste-test. The red salsa has a fire-roasted bottom end, just a hint of tomato sweetness, and a nice kick. The green is essentially the same recipe except it's tomatillo-based with that characteristic tomatillo-tang. I made it back just as the server dropped off an order of guacamole and a basket of tortilla chips. The Savages set upon the guacamole with fury and a great crackling of chips, almost instantly vaporizing the contents of the white serving bowl. I managed to dunk one or two chips in before there was nothing left but a green mist hanging briefly over the table. This is naked guacamole, unadorned by onions, tomatoes, cilantro, or anything save a little onion salt. When your avocados are this sweet and creamy nothing else is required, and you may parade wantonly about in the raw. The tacos arrived shortly afterwards. Two corn tortillas for structural integrity, fish, a mound of coleslaw, a little pico de gallo. I poured the red salsa over my blackened fish taco and the green sauce over my other taco and got to work. The confetti of crisp cabbage slaw and pico de gallo provided a light counterpoint to the savory little morsels of well-seasoned blackened fish just before heat of the salsa arrived with great fanfare -- an altogether lovely parade of flavors and textures. Let the purists scoff, but I have to say the blackened was more to my taste than the regular fish taco, which lacked the former's flare and complexity. Had I spent a little more time at the salsa bar with the citrus and marinated onions I might have achieved a similar level of arriba! -- a worthy pursuit I plan to devote myself to next time.

What do they put in the beans? Crack? Seriously, they are awesome! The unwrapped burrito with blackened fish makes a great lunch. The price is reasonable. It's not as close as Wahoos for me, but I still make the trek at least once a week.

Our new favorite taco place! This place is consistently delicious. The fish is always fresh and they are super fast.

  • Ian S.

Regardless of the crowd (and there usually is one) this place gets you your food in about 2 minutes every time. The prices are a little steeper than typical fast food, but I will pay a premium for quality food, service, and a clean environment. Highly recommended.

The best Mexican. The blackened shrimp tacos are great. Rice is truly amazing when combined with their spicy marinated onions and other salsas. Our sons love the carne asada. Don't be put off by a line since service is always prompt once you load up at the salsa bar.

I have eaten here over 100 times over the years when I lived in OC. I still always stop here whenever I drive up from San Diego. All the times I have visited I have never been disappointed. Their Ensanada style fish tacos are the bomb! Salsa bar is very good. Hell even the plain old chicken quesadilla is awesome. Restaurant is always clean, staff friendly, fast service & food always great. The only con.... They don't have one in San Diego!

    (5)
  • J R.

The best carne asada enchiladas I EVER tasted! They also have great rice and (black) beans! yum! I didn't give them 5 stars because I tried their blackened fish enchiladas twice and it tasted like cleaning products, I would stick with the fish in tacos which were ok. Also, the staff could be a little more friendly. (Yes, I am talking about the girl who takes orders).

  • Fiorella P.

I have been to this place three times now and every time my opinion of it gets worse and worse. The first time I went I got a carne asada burrito and I was severely underwhelmed by the meal. The meat was a bit dry and the tomatoes and other produce tasted dull and lacked the crisp freshness you would expect for the almost $8 you are paying for a regular-sized burrito. The second time I got the combo that includes a taco and an enchilada served with beans and rice. The rice was really the only decent part of the meal! Again this meal was not cheap! it ended up almost $10 for the combo meal and the soda. The beans were dry, the taco was small and the enchilada was so messy and sloppy that i could not get it from spilling all over the fork. This last time i went will for sure be just that...the LAST TIME. I ordered the grilled fish nachos thinking that its such a simple dish that there was no way for me to be disappointed. Instead of nachos i got burnt chips with cheese, pinto beans and fish. Since when do nachos not have any tomatoes, onions, guacamole or sour cream?! I still tried to eat it because it was expensive and i was super hungry but 2 or 3 bites into it I had to give up. The service is really the only good thing about this restaurant because it is over-priced, poor quality and a small boring menu.

Not authentic mexi but it is good what I'd say is califonia mexi is all about. I put this in the group of wahoos and baja tacos mexican food joints. Close to the top of the food chain of these types of joints. Maybe only La Serana is only better by a little bit in this type of california mexi food.

Not just cheap and good, this place is cheap and great ! We are addicted to the two taco grilled fish combo with pinto beans instead of black beans. We always order a side of guacamole. The rice the appears to have some stock added to it so it is mildly but delightfully flavored. We add salsa and cilantro from the salsa bar to the rice as well as squeeze limes over the tacos. The portions are generous so my wife and I usually split a meal.

Since moving to the area, my husband and I frequent this place. It's well priced, delicious and the portions are very generous. Can't go wrong eating here!

I love this place. Been here about 100 times. The food is consistent and the owner is super nice. I usually pick up some tacos after golf and bring them home to my babe. She is always happy. Enjoy!

This is my stop every time I head to LA. My favorite is the staek burritos. Their burritos are created then "toasted" so they are a bit crispy on the outside. They are filled with fresh everything. My stomach is growling right now just think about it. The freshness of the guac and cilantro make it over the top. And the juices on the last couple bites are to die for. Sealed in aluminium foil for the ride ensures my food will be warm when I finally make it to LA.

    (5)
  • Bill M.

Service was fast even with the place crowded. Expect a little noise at peak times if you are dining in.$30 for two with a couple of drinks. Zero wine selection. Must like Tapatio but they do have salsa bar too.o

Been here twice since they messed up my take out order- both times resulting in a perfectly pleasing meal. Back up to 4 stars...and well on the way to 5.

  • K G.

Dang, these fish tacos are the bomb. The fish is soooooo delicious! I got two charbroiled tacos and that was it. The price is great, $2.75 apiece and the tacos are really big with lots of meat. The fresh salsas are excellent too, my favorite is the roasted tomato. I did have an issue with the jack cheese, I don't usually expect fish tacos to have cheese and I thought the jack kind of diluted the flavor of the fish. I would get them without cheese next time. The black beans and rice looked really good, I'll try them next time. A friend ordered the shrimp and said it was outstanding, so I need to try that too. I guess it's safe to say I'll go back.

  • Jun T.

Stopped by here after a day at the beach and yes, it's still my favorite place for fish tacos. So fresh and perfectly cooked. The GF had the chicken enchilada with black beans and rice. Lucky me, because she never finishes the rice and beans, which means I get the leftovers! And the chicken enchilada was perfect. I hope I'm not jinxing myself but I don't think it's possible to have a bad meal at Baja Fish Tacos....

  • Deavina E.

Best rice ever!! The staff is nice enough but really you have to come for the food. They are great at seating a large group and we always come in with at least 5 kids and 2 to 4 adults. There steak tacos are excellent and my kids love the chicken tacos. If you are looking for something quick but still want healthy, fresh Mexican food this is the place.

Exceptional and consistent. I've probably eaten here and at Lake Forest a total of 50 times and they always have consistently great food. The restaurants are always clean. Fish is their best dish

BEST SHRIMP TACO EVER!!!!!!!! It is amazing and I crave it at least once a week. I also really love their bean, rice and cheese burrito... it's simple and perfect. Great roasted salsa too:-)

  • Julie W.

I'd give 3 and a half stars if I could. It's good - but not great. Pretty consistent food. Very fast and friendly service. It's convenient on a night when we don't feel like cooking but aren't looking for a fine dining experience. It's one of the few places we can get our kid to eat fish, so that's a plus. I also like that there are plenty of healthy options. Someone else mentioned that the shrimp tacos would be better without cheese, and I agree. I order mine without. I love cheese, just not on their shrimp tacos.

Baja Fish Tacos is awesome! My friend said I should try this place and I was not disappointed trying it. Theif fish tacos is just marvelous. They always see to it that the food they're serving is fresh. I didn't have the time to try some of their food but I will come back to try other meals.

I LOVE this place! The food is always fresh and very good. For cheap eats, I don't know that it could be better. Skip the chicken, but the fish and the carne asada are fan-freaking-tastic! The bean and cheese burrito is pretty killer too... yum... ok gotta cut this post short -- I'm getting too hungry thinking about it!

This is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat - but I tend to take my food to go because it gets super crowded (for good reason!). Even though the menu is simple and doesn't change often, the flavors are delicious. They've got the basics mastered, and combined with fresh ingredients and excellent service - this place has me hooked!

I am a complete sucker for tacos! I tried my fist fish taco here years ago. Now Baja Fish is a must every time I make it out to southern Cali. The fish tacos are amaaazing. Filled with flavor and happiness. The rice and beans are just as good. However, I always end up getting a tummy ache after eating Baja Tacos. So minus one star for that. I'll develop an immunity to it soon...hopefully.

Ohhhh my, we love the food here! The Ensenada style fish tacos are as good or better than any I've eaten in my many, many days in Baja. The fish is impeccably fresh, fried to order, in warm, soft corn tortillas with a touch of shredded cabbage and white sauce. Heaven! The shrimp tacos (usually served as a special) are equally as good: spiced shrimp, cotija cheese and cabbage, Wow!. The pinto beans are world class, velvety and rich (with a touch of lard, I'd guess), fluffy white rice enriched with butter, the chips thin, crisp and well salted. Their salsa bar has a few nice surprises too: marinated onions with a surprising kick of heat, salsa verde made with roasted tomatillos, and a house salsa fresca/pico de gallo that is as good as any I've had. The other dishes have been just as good. Carne asada, Charbroiled chicken, Blackened fish; in tacos, burritos and salads are all as good as you will find anywhere. The service is friendly and the food arrives at your table quickly, hot and ready to be devoured. Oh, they have $2 beer after 3 pm! Negra Modelo for $2 and killer fish tacos! What more do you need in your day? My girlfriend and I usually share a 2 taco combo, an order of chips and salsa, get 2 beers and a glass of wine. This feast gets us change back from a $20 bill! Dinner for two, with drinks for under $20? Sign me up for several dinners a week! Did I mention that we love the food here? PS they have several locations and a web site: bajafishtacos.net

Had a great lunch there. Needless to say the fish taco was great, but other than that the rice and beans were excellent. The chips and salsa were addictive. I wish we had something like this on the East Coast.

From the outside, looks like any other Mexican, strip mall place, but WOW! So great! Blackened fish tacos are wonderful, inexpensive and not fishy at all. Everyone always has a smile. They serve that good "white" rice, not the Americanized spanish rice. Happy hour, beers are $2!

I am such a hard critic of Mexican food, but this definitely met my expectations. Not a whole lot of choices but what they have is all delicious. My personal favorite; the shrimp platter with Pinto beans. Holy Cow!! Just finger licking good! My husband always orders the Grilled fish platter or the fish tacos.

good prices and good quality---however incredibly noisy----kids running around unsupervised a lot of noise maybe the loudest restaurant I have ever been in----seems like the parents go there get the food and the kids go crazy and the parents couldn't care in the least-----------will never go again and sit down---this is a take out only kind of a place---if you sit down you will be sorry

The beans here are amazing, like my mother-in-laws (and hers are very hard to beat). The tacos are good, the blacked are good not at all spicy, but the baja fish tacos are the best. Great happy hour too, buy one get one free beer, works for me!

Can I buy stock in this company? A business that truly gets food, customer service, low prices and much appreciated expedience all at the same time. Where do I begin? They have great, great baja style mexican food which I love such as the fish tacos and chicken burritos in tortilla or in a bowl (yummmmy). Next, order yourself a cerveza and not some lame american watery beer but a true mexican delicioso such as Pacifico or Bohemia and wait milliseconds before your order arrives all with smiling faces. Oops, I forgot to mention that they show sports all the time thanks to like 5 TVs which goes perfectly with chips, spicy salsa, beer and anything on the menu. Best of all, because they move so frickin fast there is always an open seat. Sorry, I must discontinue my review as it has made me too hungry for more Baja and I am off to get me some more - btw - the one is Santa Ana is equally as good but so busy on weekdays for the lunch crowd you have to wait in the supermarket next door - they do move fast though. Gracias Baja Fish Tacos - Perfecto!

Seriously the best Mexican Food I have ever had. I know that is a huge statement (Mexican food is just good in general) but I love the freshness and quality of this place. They pay attention to every detail to make their food fresh and authentic, and they will also honor pretty much any request (and I am picky, so I have sent them some challenges over the years!). The guacamole is all avocado and tomatoes - no thickeners, the salsa bar is all fresh, homemade salsas -- the burritos --ohhh the burritos! Try the wet blackened shrimp - it might change your world. The grilled fish tacos are simple and awesome - the fish is cooked perfectly and not at all greasy, and they just come with lettuce, pico and cheese...unless you get the shrimp tacos, which come with cabbage, cojita and avo salsa...remember what I said about details?? :) Seriously this place pulls out all the stops. I got the Baja ensalada with fish every day for about a month and I still crave it all the damn time. If you don't dig the greasy stuff, but you love mexican food, this is the place. Go on your birthday, you get lunch for free...oh yeah and two-for-one beers after 3:00...details man!!!

All I can say is that I am glad that this place is at least 30 minutes away from home. Otherwise I would end up eating here too much and then be totally burned out on the tacos and awesome pinto beans within a month. Here is the deal; their food is kind of like Wahoos (over used comparison, forgive me) which I totally love, but this place is way better. Maybe it's not El Adobe or South of Nick's good, but it's real close and a lot cheaper. With the money you save coming here on a Saturday night with your wife you could hit BevMo on the way home and purchase a nice bottle of Jose Cuervo Familia. Now your thinking!

I gave this place 5 stars because the price, quality, and service combined. I order the grilled Ono fish plate. It comes with fresh jasmine rice, salad with homemade champagne vinaigrette dressing, fresh guacamole and tortillas all for $10!! Enough to share. The salsa bar had 3 different salsas marinated onions, fresh lime and whole jalapeños.. Bottle beers (Corona) $3 bucks everyday after 4pm

amazing! love everything they make! my son calls it the beeto store

Maybe this place is resting on it's laurels a bit. I ordered the the blackened fish baja bowl. While the flavor of the fish was good, it was on the dry and chewy side. I expected the fish to be a bit more moist and tender. I also wanted a few more pinto beans that sat underneath my fish. I probably should have ordered the fish without the blackened spice. Not sure what all the buzz is about with this place, but I didn't see it. This was a take-out order and had I been eating in I most likely would have sent my fish bowl back.

Lived here for 4 years and this is my go to spot for fresh Mexican food that's always consistent and served with great service. Shrimp burrito, blackened fish plate, and Baja salad are the best picks but everything is solid.

So let down by yelp! Horrible food, no flavor! Salsa is nothing more than pico de gallo. Will never return. Waste of money.

This place has by far, the very best tacos I have ever had, anywhere. And, I have had a lot of tacos. The staff is friendly, the salsa bar rocks (the spicy green one is the one everyone is lining up for and filling containers to take home), the quality of food (especially the meat) is excellent. The pricing is exactly where you would expect it to be. No glorified, overpriced, mystery meat here. I have even ordered trays of tacos for parties, and people call the next day asking where I got the tacos because they were delicious. *Tip...if you are going for lunch try to get there just a bit before noon because the place gets busy and it can be tough to get table.

Grilled fish, black beans and rice....delicious! We also tried the beef and shrimp tacos and very good as well. Too bad we don't have this in Chino Hills.

I always get the two fish taco plate ensenada style. Never disappoints me even after 15+ eating there. Their salsa bar is also one of/ if not the best I've ever had.

  • Nadia Z.

I love this place. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. I recommend the Ensenada style fish tacos- so so good. I've had fish tacos in Mexico and these are almost as good!

Freshest, best, most high quality Mexican food in orange county! Hands down! Get the chicken taco, bravo style! (Not on the menu)

  • Sukhraj B.

OMG! I just had their blackened fish tacos! Stick a fork in me; I'm done! Figuring it was time I gave in and tried some seafood, we headed here yesterday for the occasion. I got two blackened fish tacos with the house salad. I also tried the Tamarindo Jarritos. The fish tacos had a great taste. They didn't have a fish taste and were perfectly seasoned and went well with the salad. Customer service is friendly here and they have an awesome salsa bar with these pickled onions that Jay seemed particularly fond of. This place is located near the Vons and Starbucks and looks like any other fast food place from the outside but it's pretty big and immaculately clean. This is some of the best cheap and fresh Mexican food you'll find in OC.

You have to be kidding me that all of you think this place is good. I was pumped up when I saw all the positive reviews. Got a couple tacos, a burrito, and some nachos to try pretty much everything on the menu. Also made one "wet" as they recommended; which just saying it sounds disgusting. First there was food at my table as soon as I had my drink filled, which would be a good thing, but it wasn't mine. That created all kinds off issues since I didn't know my number, but whatever it was fixed in a couple of minutes. So first off were the nachos. They were covered in mashed white beans and topped with microwaved white cheese. I make better nachos with kraft shredded cheese and tostitos in my microwave when im lazy. These were unbelievably bad. Then to the tacos and burritos. The meat was absolutely flavorless, and the sauce they put on when requesting your food "wet" tasted like water out of a can of beans. I wished so bad I hadn't come here. Biggest mistake of my entire vacation. If anyone who likes this place comes to Chicago, don't try La Pasadita or the place under the L tracks by Wrigley Field; actual flavor might make your head explode.

  • Brandon B.

Love this place. Go for the unwrapped Burrito and you won't regret it. Cheaper than a salad and just as filling. The salsa bar pretty much makes this place. Service is quick and they pretty much get it right all the time.

  • Jen Y.

Hands down the BEST fried fish taco I have ever had. I don't usually like the overly battered, bland, white-sauce-heavy fried fish tacos at most other places, but these were perfectly seasoned, lightly breaded, and made to perfection. The butter on the rice seemed a bit unnecessary, but was definitely tasty!

    (5)
  • Laura T.

Blackened shrimp tacos, black beans and rice. It doesn't get much better than that. For those complaining about the lack of flavor with the beans and rice, this is my trick: I load up my taco with some salsa verda and I eat the taco over the beans and the rice, so both the salsa and the yummy white sauce drip onto the beans and rice. Then, once I've eaten the tacos, I mix up the beans and rice with the sauces, add a bit of salt (I carry Pink Himalayan in my purse--go ahead and judge), and it's a little bit of heaven right there.

On our way to the beach, we stopped by to try this fish taco place. Located in the VONS plaza, they attract a lot of customers. It's easy to see why after trying their food. I tried a fish taco combo with unbattered fish, black beans and rice. The fish is very fresh as are the salsas. The beans and rice they give you are plenteous. Their rice is really good but I still couldn't finish the whole combo. I sampled some of my husband's fish enchilada and it was very good. The cheese was perfectly melted with a nice red sauce. They also have a green sauce option. I want to know how they season their rice here, it's excellent.

Great family place for fish tacos. Two fish tacos, Ensenada style with pinto beans and rice is the way to go.

Yay! Finally found a 5 star through Yelp on Cali trip. Just the perfect fish taco I was searching for... Third place was the charm! Excellent, fresh, tender, flavorful grilled fish pieces and generous amount. Not too dry. Great fillings and loved the fresh salsa bar and onions! This place needs to come to NYC.

I have always been a fan of Baja Fish Tacos and have referred many people there. The food is fast and just amazingly good. Today, I grabbed lunch to go for me and my two boys. When I got home, 1/2 of the order was missing. Peeved at having to get my two kids back in carseats to go and pick up the second half, I called and was surprised by the response. I received a genuine apology and the offer to have someone drop off my order to my home. I was so amazed at this offer by a restaurant that doesn't offer deliver and a restaurant right in the middle of their lunch rush. I am all about customer service and this went above and beyond my expectations. Kudos to the staff and general manager for their commitment to customer service!

If the McDonald's nearby is too crowded for you to get a Filet-O-Fish, rest assured that the fish here is ALMOST AS GOOD. Not quite, as it's overcooked, but almost. And their salsa bar, much loved by Yelp reviewers has - wait for it - not one, but TWO types of salsa! And they not only serve good beer, but they also serve Cerveza Pacífico Clara, at a mere $4.50/bottle, for balance! And their meat in the tacos isn't moist like other inferior establishments, but has some nice gristly texture! And their tortillas aren't flimsy, but are good and hard and dry, so your mouth will get a good workout! In all seriousness, though, the atmosphere was fun (ogling the natives), and they at least gave you a ton of food for your money.

  • Terrence W.

I had a two taco combo with a fish taco and carne asada taco with rice and black beans. I liked that the service was good, the ingredients were fresh, and the salsa was very good. I probably should have gone for the Ensanada style fish taco as I found the regular grilled fish taco bland but a good platform for the zippy and tasty salsa. The carne asada was ok and a little dry. I was expecting Spanish rice but it was just white rice and I would have skipped that had I known. I did not try the chips as they charge for those, which has always wrankled my sensibilities. I think taco shops should have free chips just like Italian places should have free bread but that's just me. Overall, I felt good after eating there. It is not the best I have ever had but I would try it again.

Wow! So good. Who would have thought that this little place would be so amazing? Went here for lunch with people from my office. You walk up, order and pay and then they bring you your food to the table. So many choices! I had the Baja Bowl. I highly recommend this place. It was pretty busy, but food was fast and correct.

This is a great lunch spot...The line was long but it moved very quickly and our food came out even quicker! I ordered the charbroiled fish platter- large portion of fish! I also appreciate that the fish was healthy and cooked perfectly. I love the white steamed rice and black bean combo. Everything was great!

Very good. Sometimes the take out orders aren't correct but that is probably expected as they are always so busy

  • Laura B.

I have come here consistently for a long time and I am always really, really happy with my meals. The food is "healthy Mexican" if there is such a thing, with black beans dominating the menu and lettuce always sneakily finding it's way into your burritos. Five a day, here I come! The tortilla soup is not overly salty, oily, or heavily cheesed. Gross to think about all the bad tortilla soup you've had huh? The salsa is always delightfully fresh and everything else on the menu is awesome too. If you're looking for lardy but "authentic" Mexican food, drive ten more minutes to SJC. But if you're feeling like tasty, lighter fare (pretty much any time of day/evening-great hours!) check out yummy baja fish tacos. (And yes, the fish tacos are delicioso tambien.)

DELICIOUS, fresh, healthy, helpful and friendly service. We discovered this place after just moving near it and you would never know from the outside how fabulous it is. The salsa bar is fabulous too - fresh, chilled and healthy items. So happy it is close to where we live.Go NOW! We have had the grilled fish plate with fish, rice, beans, tortillas and the salad with fish, the beef plate. all fabulous.

This is one of our go to fast food spots. I love their carne asada taco and chicken enchilada with green sauce. In my opinion it blows away Wahoo's, Baja Fresh, etc. Also, their guacamole is amazing.

I've always liked the burritos, salsa, chips etc. it's also one of the better deals around as far as speed and freshness. Now of you want to hear why I won't go back anytime soon, read on. I called in a phone order to save time. Started licking my lips as I looked at the to-go bag sitting behind the cashier as I paid, thinking there was a good chance it was mine. But no, he didn't bother to look at, so I assumed it was for someone else, no biggie. I waited a few minutes. Then I waited some more, starting to get irritated at people getting their food ahead of me. Meanwhile, the cashier is bouncing his head, hi-fiving his buddies (I'm not kidding.) So I ask him, "it seems to be taking longer than usual, is everything ok?" He nods his head, "yeah," apparently confused or irritated by me asking. After another person got served ahead of me I ask another worker, who quickly discovered my bag is the same one I eyed when I first walked in. It was sitting there behind my goon cashier all along. I've got major issues with that kind if service. Owner should get rid of him, that guy in his 20's, hispanic, maybe 5'8" at the to go cash register on April 17 after 11 am. Doooosh.

I would still prefer Wahoos. Granted I like the salsa bar and being able to drench my food in salsa, sauce and other condiments, but the food was ok. Maybe it was a bad batch or I'm a bit sensitive, but the onions in the salad bar were way too on the salty side. I order the 2 taco combo platter, so I gave the carne asada and blackended fish a whirl. The carne asada was pretty good and the blackended fish was lacking in the blackended spice part. The fish itself was pretty good soft and flavorful. The rice was a bit moist and lacked any flavor. I had to compliment it with the salsa to give it some flavor.

Its funny how long it takes me to remember to review places I love. And yes, I love this place. Everything here is fresh and grilled and yummy. Its healthy Mexican food done right. There is really something to be said about quality ingredients and they use them! Quality steak, chicken and fish with fresh veggies. I'm in love!Their salsa bar is also pretty amazing. I LOVE their onions but have come to realize they make my tummy angry. You should eat them though, they are well worth it. I'm OBSESSED with their Steak Salad. Lettuce, tomato, red onion, corn, cucumber, avocado, cheese and perfectly cooked steak. Yum! I like to mix the ranch and champagne dressings together. I have this salad at least once a week, sometimes up to 4 times a week. EAT HERE!

Been going to this place for years- If you like fish tacos, or Mexican food that is fresh and healthy, spicy or mild and full of flavor- this is the place for you. The food served at Baja Fish Tacos is worth more than what they charge. This is a bustling place with a hard working staff, and great salsa bar. This is a good place to get a beer and some tacos and shoot the breeze for lunch or dinner. The place is really popular with families and foodies, and can get a little loud (and crowded) around dinner hours. I recommend early dining with a group, and have the blackened fish taco, or even the Carne Asada tacos. Check this place out- You won't regret it!

We have been coming to Baja Fish in Laguna Niguel for years and enjoy it every time we go. Chicken is fresh and plentiful, beef is tasty. The side dishes/accompaniments are good as well. Restaurant is fairly large and will accommodate larger parties. The service is very professional. The one thing I would differ on from yelp info at top is the one dollar sign. Not cheap for a taco place. Regular taco runs $2.75 each which adds up quickly! Side note: I have been to the Lake Forest location as well and have gotten mild food poisoning there. Not at the same level as LN.

    (5)
  • Rosie K.

Fish tacos were ok. RIce tasted like it was flavored with butter, which I don't eat, so I left it. Next time I will try something healthier but the food was just ok.n Salsa bar was so nasty, salsa spilled everywhere and no one in sight to clean it up. Baja Fresh always has a clean salsa bar.

So our sales department decided to visit this location because a co-worker said that it was really good. The place was pretty busy but we were lucky to find seating. It is your typical order at the counter and sit down place. I ordered the two taco combo which included rice and beans. I ordered a carne asada and fish taco (since it is a fish taco place). The fish taco was very good, it was bland but you that's what hot sauce it for. The carne asada was a little bit dry probably cooked earlier and sitting in a container. Oh yeah, the funny thing is that the coworker that suggested the place ordered chicken. You suggest a fish taco place and you order chicken?

    (4)
  • Cameron M.

Get a carne asada burrito, you'll be glad you did. The guacamole is awesome, too. You can steal free wi-fi from the Starbucks next door, so it's a great place to park yourself with a laptop and an order of chips and guac in the afternoon.

I enjoyed the beef enchilada the most.

Good fish tacos at a descent price. The salsa bar is actually very good. The onions at the salad bar are delicious. I also really enjoyed the nachos.

Great place for a quick casual meal. I love their pinto beans and always get the shrimp taco, the white wine sauce is delish. They have good guac too & is plenty big to share between 2 people. This place is a week night staple when we don't feel like cooking. It can get pretty loud and packed.

    (4)
  • Terrence Y.

It's the go-to spot for a casual lunch or dinner with good Mexican food and beers. The kids love it and dads love it for the TV's, chips and salsa and aforementioned beer. My favorite thing is the carne asada Baja bowl with seasoned white rice, pinto beans, Jack cheese, pico de gallo, and guacamole. TJ loves the carne asada nachos for all the cheese they put on them. Victoria gets just the bean and cheese burrito and Sophie likes what I get. The chips and salsa bar are great to get during a game or just as an appetizer. To wash it down they have Dos Equis Amber, which is my favorite Mexican beer, as well as XX Lager. They have my 2nd favorite Bohemia as well as Pacifico, Modelo, Negra Modelo, Victoria, and crappy Corona. It's a good place for both family and friends for both the food & drinks and atmosphere.

  • Nijole T.

Fantastic place to grab fish tacos! The quality here is amazing, I love their salsa bar and the service is great too. My husband loves the breaded fish, I get it grilled, usually on a salad or bowl which is a much better value then the tacos, that are pretty overpriced at $4 each. Nice, clean location, plenty of seating and very nice staff. Perfect, light lunch that won't weigh you down or leave you feeling guilty the rest of the day.

Really. This place has fallen. Bad bad food. We used to eat here then the place got crappy in 2009-ish. So we waited it out and tried later,.. Like years later - was so so. But then we went on Tuesday night. Totally sucky. Ordered a shrimp burrito. It was cold. Even the "toasted" burrito exterior was cold. The cooked shrimp was cold,.. Like out of a fridge cold. The burrito had been wrapped super loose to make it look fat. You squeeze it and it turns into a Taco Bell. My other half paid extra for nachos with carne and grilled chicken. OMG- the plate was mostly broken chip crumbles and shitty cheese. A ton of cheese. Like gross lumps of cheese. We found 3 tiny cubes of chicken,..a small spoon full of meat and they hid any and all beans. The plate was terrible. The family next to us ordered similar plates and it was so bad for her too that they could not do much with their lumpy cold congealed cheese lump. I know white people love this place. But I have zero idea why. We paid almost 20 bucks for a burrito and nachos. We were so dissatisfied. The night was a bust. We wanted to do our fav place in San Clemente but it was closed. Then we tried brio there down the hill and it had a bad dj music disaster,.. Then we settled for Baja Fish Tacos and that was a bust so we went to WHOLE FOODS! Got a sandwich and a slice of hot pizza and salad. It was not our desired night of Mexican food. We went to Teds but at 8:40 at night there were about 30 people waiting outside to get a table. Arrrgh- why does this area have such blah food sometimes?

Amazing unwrapped Shrimp burrito. Is actually fresh shrimp on greens extremely delicious I don't even use dressing (champagne dressing ) shrimp are so juicy. I've probably had this 50 times at that Laguna Niguel location And that's no exaggeration!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #best

I have a rule I don't eat anywhere twice that can't so it better than I can. Baja Fish Taco kills it. No place on earth makes a better Shrimp Taco and enchilada..... Period :)

  • Brian L.

Baja Fish Tacos is my family's go-to Mexican restaurant. The food is fresh and made to order and the staff is friendly. They have a great salsa bar and some of the best guacamole I've ever had. One of my favorite meals is their two cheese enchilada plate with red sauce. I love their pinto beans and rice as well. Another excellent choice is the shrimp burrito. When it comes to fish tacos, you have two choices, Baja style which uses grilled fish or Ensenada style where a battered and fried fish is used. Both are delicious! And my wife and I both love their carne asada nachos!

    (5)
  • Shelly R.

One of the best places I've gone to for burritos and tacos. Super fresh and the beans taste very authentic. I recommend the chicken burrito with rice and beans added. They really care about what they serve their customers. Obsessed with it. Haha. Really fresh and delicious.

I go here often - love the food (especially the steak salad with champagne dressing) BUT the staff is always kinda rude ... if they were nicer I'd give it "5" stars.

  • Brenda V.

I've been going here for a couple years now and I have noticed that they are getting so chintzy with their guacamole. I was there tonight and not only was I dissapointed about that but they got my order wrong. This is at least the third time this has happened. I usually don't complain but this time I called and they said they would credit me.

  • Hutch H.

I love this chain! The food is authentic, fresh, and very tasty. My grandfather used to say that the measure of a Mexican restaurant is how good their beans are. The pinto beans with a dash of salt are excellent on their own. I usually get a Shrimp Taco and a Fish Enchilada Verde. My wife got the Carne Asada burrito that was also pretty good, but I'm compelled to have the seafood when I come. It's a good value for the prices they're charging.

  • Allie G.

I ordered from baja fish tacos dinner for take out looking at the yelp menu listed online. Then when I went to pick up the food and pay the price was double than what was reflected thru the yelp app. I told the cashier that they must have made a mistake because the total was much higher than normal...(I typically order the same items so I know the pricing and what I normally pay), his response was, oh we don't use yelp, You have to look at our own menu online. I told him that doesn't make any sense, and why then would they have their yelp menu online if all the pricing is totally off. He said a manager would call me and of course no one ever did....watch out for their ripoff pricing, like to add chicken to a $4 burrito it cost an additional $4 just for the Chicken. I don't mind paying for whatever the food costs but I just don't appreciate being scammed.

    (1)
  • Sarah C.

My mom and I both got wet burritos that were cold inside...the fish tacos are good...their salsa bar would be better if they had carrots and cut up their jalapeños but the green salsa and the pico de gallo is pretty good! Don't get a burrito!

    (3)
  • Matthew P.

Reading the reviews I expected a unique restaurant, but seems like chain. It was good, I would go back, if I didn't live in Florida. Not the best fish taco I ever had but no where near as bad as a couple reviews make it sound.I would give fish taco 8/10, good quality and good flavor. My fiance's enchilada was probably the best thing we got.

  • Tori L.

Eat here quite often, We tend to get it to go a lot. Our order is correct and most of the time you can skip the big line when you order over the phone. I wish the chicken wasn't so dry, but other then that its pretty good.

I'm not a fan of Wahoo's so I was hesitant about this place because it kind of reminded me of Wahoo's. But boy, it tasted way better. I love the buttery rice and baja fish tacos. The shrimp tacos and chips were delicious as well. If I ever want a quick inexpensive but quality meal when I'm in the area, then this is the place.

  • Erika H.

Excellent food - I love this place overall! The only thing that grosses me out is how they break down the salsa bar before closing. If you are in the restaurant 10 - 15 minutes before closing time, some guy goes out with bare hands and no hair net or apron and takes apart the salsa bar, placing the salsa and toppings on a nearby table for patrons to still use. The food is not cheap, and many people (including myself) leave a tip for the workers. The least they could do is have the courtesy to let customers use the fresh salsa bar up until the time that they leave, or at least up until the close of business. Baja Fish Tacos, please leave the salsa bar alone until the customers leave

This place is THE BEST! Service is good, but the food is where they excel. Imagine Rubios on steroids, and this is what you get. Baja fish tacos has great food. I have tried everything on their menu and have been satisfied with it all. If you want to try something spicy, go for their blackened fish burrito.

The outside does not reflect the inside. It's very clean and and modern. The food is so good. Love the salmon burrito bowl. Customer service is great

Was underwhelmed with this place, particularly after reading all the good reviews. Got a shrimp taco that was spectacular, really good sauce and cabbage. The fish burrito was adequate, decent amount of fish but the burrito itself was really small. I liked the guacamole that was included. My other complaint is that they offered no selection of different fish. Most fish grills have snapper, mahi mahi, tilapia, swordfish, salmon, etc. This place just had one. Weak. My girl got a chicken taco and enchilada plate with rice and beans. It was horrible. The rice was tasteless, the beans were generic like they just came out of a can. Enchilada and taco were bland as hell, and the chicken was dry. The sauce they covered it with was not good at all. They clearly don't know how to make Mexican food here. Best part was the salsa bar, super fresh pico de gallo and other salsas. Some nice onions and limes. The restaurant was clean and the parking was easy. The food, however, left much to be desired.

Definitely. not a Mexican restaurant the beans and rice were awful tasting the chicken way to dry and was not marinated with any spices No would not go back Also on the expensive side also!!;(

This location used to be great, but it has degraded over time. My carne asada burrito today was bare and lifeless. I tasted more tortilla than anything else. The carne asada (what little there was) tasted good and juicy, though. Side of guacamole was about $3.50. Quality was great, but quantity was pretty disappointing. I used to have a lot of appreciation and respect for this restaurant, but $9 for an empty burrito that left me still hungry is pretty crazy.... Can't say that I look forward to going back.

This place is seriously legit! I ordered the Charbroiled Fish Burrito wet style combo and wow...it was delicious! I'm surprised how much fish was in every bite of the burrito and also how moist the fish was. I was under the impression the burrito included rice and beans in it but it does not so order the combo! I've always been a wet Burrito fan and this one was pretty damn good...9 out of 10 (I got the green sauce) (: the ambience is very chill and I also like the cleanliness and how spacious it is! Definitely a great place to come to again when I'm in the area.

15 years. This place is always a ZOOOOOO!!!!!! That's a good thing because they've never screwed up my order once. I've always found a table. ALWAYS!!!!! they clean every table within seconds!!!!!! Insanely fast service!!! It's unbelievable that they can keep this place in order with the flood of guests that eat there. ITS CRAZY!!!!!!! Don't even need to ask if the food is good. There's a damn line out the door by 6pm. Duh!!!!! The food is AWESOME!!!!!!!.......oh. And the guy who posted 24 days before me. Ken W. Needs to get laid or something. What a pansy giving this place one star. IDIOT!!!!!

I try to eat here as often as possible. Get the Ensenada fish tacos. And the rice and pinto beans are good enough to to stand on their own.

This place deserves five stars alone for the rice and black beans! Their tacos are loaded...you are definitely getting your money's worth. And of course the fresh salsa bar is totally awesome. Fresh, flavorful, and fast service.

Awesome food !! Quality of meat is always great Very quick but prices keep going up Guy with glasses is the man

Portions have shrunk! Quality deteriorated and just not what it used to be. Too pricey for a get it yourself restaurant.

  • Vinnie B.

The BEST fish tacos I ever had I don't go to Orange county without stopping here. I Get the Ensenada style tacos and only these Tacos. If you're visiting Southern California, put this on the vacation list like this; 1-Disneyland 2-Baja Tacos 3-Huntington Beach 4-Baja Tacos 5-Melrose 6-Baja Tacos. As you drive back to the rental car place, stop by Baja Tacos one last time! These Fish Tacos will change your life. Now go get some Tacos already! I am not responsible if you become addicted to these Tacos. I am and I struggle with it everyday.

Oh how I LOVE THIS PLACE!! My 3.5 year old son calls this his "burrito place" and always gets a delicious bean and cheese burrito (sometimes we add rice at no extra charge). I swear by the Carne Asada Salad with champagne dressing. Honestly, this salad (at $8-9 bucks) blows the overpriced version from Javier's at the spectrum out of the water!!

A Laguna Niguel staple. The food is excellent, fresh, and inexpensive.

Shrimp tacos were DELICIOSO!!! Minus one star for the dry fish in my taco...but it was still good... Did I mention the shrimp tacos...even the rice was bomb...think it was the salt, either way, it was HELLA good...MOS DEF be back

  • Samantha R.

This place doesn't disappoint. Really fresh ingredients everything about this place is a 10. Salsa, beans, rice, fish the burritos are really really good and the fish plate and fish tacos are even better. This place has been down the street from my house for the last 3 years I've lived here and I never went! If you think this is just another Mexican food place then your absolutely wrong its really good. Don't make the mistake I made and try it sooner than later.

Clean, fast, fresh Baja style chain with multiple locations in OC. The Charbroiled Fish Burrito was unstoppable. For $8 you get a huge burrito with great tasting fish. I love that it comes standard with guac and you can option rice and beans inside or out for free. Salsa bar was fine but what makes it memorable are those pickled spicy herb flavored onions. My new favorite salsa bar item! Not sure what they do to those onions but it works. Service was great. Order at the counter and they take care of the rest. If you combined Wahoos, Rubio's and Baja Fresh and then made said place a thousand times better you would get this. Please open in San Diego next.

  • B J.

Just ok. Other locations are better. No chips!!!! Other locations give that.... Only 2 salsas. Weak!

    (2)
  • Heather L.

Simply the best Mexican food in town. My favorite dish is the blacken fish tacos with black beans and rice. The top quality of the fish is equal to Javiers. I had the chance to meet the owner and he takes pride in using top ingredients like organic chicken for his restaurants. All the salsa is handmade in the back. One try and you will be hooked to the quality and amazing taste of the food.

  • Taylor B.

I absolutely love Baja fish taco! I go there any chance I can get. I live in San Clemente so it's not the most convenient location but it's worth the drive. My favorite is the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. I also like the Baja bowl! Their chips and salsa are fantastic.

    (5)
  • Dez J.

I'm somewhere between a 3.5 and 4 for this place. Fish tacos are killer, carne asada tasty. Beans (pinto) are definitely not out of can and have some good flavor to them. Salsa bar has some nice variety. The rice. Sigh. It's buttered white rice. I need my red rice, man! The rice is a cop out. Overall, it's a good, solid decently priced meal for the family. Above par for sure. But they've messed up my meal more than once. Salsa bar is often a gross mess. And I've always taken my food to go because the tables are either full or piled with dishes that need I be cleared. If they can clean up a bit, pay a little closer attention, I would definitely come here more often.

    (3)
  • Caprice W.

If you want to enjoy the taste of real Mexican enchiladas this is the place to go. The service is great. People are nice. The food is always fresh. I come here almost every week just to have a green enchilada. So delicious!!!!

    (5)
  • Lindsay E.

Love the veggie bowl and veggie burrito!! (With black beans) they have good service and really flippin good chips and spicy salsa!

    (5)
  • Marina A.

Hands down the best Mexican food EVER. Their rice is ridiculous, it's buttery and flavorful and the pinto beans creamy and a perfect complement to the rice. Everything I have tried from here is delicious: all the meats are good in their own way, the burritos are phenomenal, the bowls are amazing, and the platters are to die for. All in all, this is probably my favorite place to have lunch. Service is always quick and friendly too, you will always get your food within 5 minutes of ordering regardless of how busy it is. I have not a single complaint about this place, simply great.

    (5)
  • Chad H.

Always great service and perfect for large groups. Delicious food, comes out real quick. I highly recommend the chicken enchiladas with red sauce and definitely get the guacamole & chips!

These guys have the best steak tacos ever they are very affordable if the place is clean the food is fresh their Waccamaw Lee is fresh and one of my favorites around the chips are always done fresh and they're very convenient for phone orders to pick up to go

  • Kiarash H.

Hands down the best Mexican/Cali style food you will ever have. I've been going here for about 6-7 years now on and off. The service is always great, with a friendly and courteous staff. The food is moderately priced but the quality and taste is there. They have good Mexican beer to choose from that wash down their chips and salsa perfectly. The rice is unbelievable and and I would pay money to know how they make it. Awesome white and black beans, and killer tacos. There's a special secret type of taco they do that's not on the menu. Try any type of the tacos but ask them for "bravo style", and thank me later.

    Pinto beans are amazing!!

Wow .. really good food.. I tired the shrimp burrito and beer batter fish tacos.and they were amazing .. I just wish they served chips like a normal Mexican spot.. if you're ever in this area try them ..

Solid neighborhood taco joint that I go to from time to time. Today I ordered the salad with grilled shrimp. It's a relatively easy place to eat lunch while on a diet/healthy lifestyle.

Great place to visit after a day at the beach. It's a casual place to go with friends. Good tacos and reasonable prices

    (4)
  • Leigh P.

Awesome chips and guac. One of my favorite dishes. Had a grilled fish taco also. It was quite tasty. The service is, order at the counter, pay, get a number and find a seat. They are busy. They move you right on through. I was quite pleased with the ease and flow. Only thing to know...sour cream isn't a standard condiment. It has to be ordered as an extra.

    (4)
  • Cara H.

Such a neat place. Friendly staff and an amazing menu. Definitely GO check it out. We'll certainly return!

    (4)
  • Jessica L.

A good-sized restaurant next to Vons and Rite-Aid. I don't see myself going back too frequently, since it's quite expensive for a counter service restaurant. I wouldn't say the food was anything to write home about, and the service is on the slow side. Fish-taco wise, I have to admit that I prefer Rubio's seafood to Baja's. The seafood burrito I had was overdone.

    (2)
  • Elizabeth K.

Yum! Solid fish tacos. Delicious chips and guacamole. Everything looks and taste fresh. Food comes fast and staff is friendly. Great casual place to eat at with friends.

  • Neima T.

Very misleading!!! Ordered takeout through yelp menu, but on arrival to pick up order, items on menu were 3 to 4 dollars more in restaurant as opposed to online menu. Example- combination fish platter is advertised as 8.50 on the website through yelp, but is 11 dollars in the restaurant. When i showed the internet price to the manager he scoffed and said that he would not honor the price as advertised. I had ordered 4 items and the price was about 10 to 12 dollars more than expected. Would not come back again. What a shame!!!

Love this place! I brought my girlfriend here 6 mos. ago while running erands (My tailor is around the corner). She gets an enchilada combo every time, I like to switch it up, 'cause it's all good. We both crave the pinto beans and rice, so we both get combos and and love our leftovers. This place is authentic flavor, clean seating, service is so-so (always nice, but not attentive...really though it's not that kind of place.) She has bought me 2 suits since then, just so that I will bring her back here.

  • Daniel D.

Move over Chipotle, basic tacos and salads made with mexican hands and flavors . Perfect fish tacos broiled or battered and black beans that remind me of home! Clean, friendly and every family in the hood will be here including the divas dieting on colorful salads!

  • Jessica Lee T.

If you haven't been, DO NOT HESITATE, and just GO!!! The fish tacos are the best & for whatever reason.. we LOVE their rice. haha All the staff Is AWESOME. So sweet, always smiles on their faces... same crew for a long time... which feels really nice to have faces you recognize, time and time again. :-) oh and a little secret. If it's a busy time... order for pick up and you can slide right in and out. :-) Highly recommend!!!

I love this place . Makes me hungry thinking about the fabulous burritos. The service is fast and friendly and the food is amazing .

    (5)
  • Martin W.

Not a fan. Probably since I'm from San Diego and do go to Ensenada. Their "Ensenada " fish taco has zero resemblance to the real taco and triple the cost. The fish was dry and overall lacking in flavor. Maybe it's the best in this area. I certainly hope not.

    (3)
  • Joey E.

Those shrimp burritos and tacos. Oh my goodnessss. Probably the best shrimp I've ever had. I downgraded to 4 stars because I wasn't that wowed by anything else on the menu. But my oh my that shrimp. Phew!

    (4)
  • Justin C.

This place is THE best! Food, service, freshness and their salsa bar is the best! I also want ton mention on how much I appreciate the staffs work ethic and honesty. I recently left my brand new Prada sunglasses there, and I retraced my steps a day after and called them to see if they were there. I'm thinking to myself (yeah right someone probably kept them) but to my surprise they found them and held on to them for me. Thank to all the staff you really made my day and its good to know the they're are still good people out in the world.

I give this place two stars. I ordered the nachos with chicken and they put a ton of cheese on top. The only part of it I could taste was the cheese, and $7 for cheese isn't worth it in my book. They also put pinto beans on the nachos and didn't strain them first. I had a puddle below all the nachos making the bottom soggy. Also, instead of putting the pinto beans on top they put them in the middle and towards the bottom. Doesn't make much sense to me. Between the three of us we also got guacamole for $6 and didn't finish it due to running out of chips. The guacamole was good and on the way out we tried to get chips to go. They wanted to charge an additional $3 when they didn't provide enough chips in the first place. Overall the food was simple and bland. Not worth the price. The tastiest part of the meal I had was the salsa which was complimentary.

    (2)
  • Kevin P.

Third time I have eaten here. First time no chicken in the Burrito but good favor. Second time came with my kids and their friends, $58 bill and asked for a small container for salsa and was charged a buck, then was shorted a Baja Bowl and had to go back. This time checked my ordered and was shorted my burrito, she open every container which was dumb as we had 4 items. Said we will make it now, 45 seconds later they had a burrito sitting on the counter so they gave it to me, not sorry or anything. Burrito was cold and no chicken. This place sucks for service and consistency. Save your money.

BEST SHRIMP Taco with Beans and Rice EVER!!!! Always busy. There's a reason.

    (5)
  • Adam C.

This is one of our staple go to Mexican restaurants. The food is absolutely delicious every time. I would recommend the Baja bowl with carne asada, black beans bravo style. The chips and guacamole are amazing! But you really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu

    (5)
  • Robert T.

Fish tacos and shrimp were five star. The beans and rice were bland. I don't think they were seasoned at all. Luckily, they have a salsa bar so you can kick it up a notch.

    (4)
  • Brandon V.

I love this place! I work down the street, so it's hard not to eat at this place daily. Great food and quick service. Really easy to get in and out of for lunch. I recommend their fish tacos!

    (5)
  • Sho T.

The direction in yelp was terrible, can not find the place. It is inside the shopping center, but the tree was blocking the sign. Now I finally found it. let's see how is the food. place an Oder for Fish combo, they don't give receipt (must not paying tax ). Nothing specially. If you are hungry then it is ok, small potion for the price.

    (3)
  • Elenna T.

They rock blackened fish tacos to the ground, but you got to ask for a flour tortilla and lettuce instead of cabbage. The chicken platter is awesome, and for a side of white sauce. Baja kicks Chelas back to TJ

    (5)
  • Troy T.

Food pretty decent although I wish they used better quality fish. Salsa bar is very good. Carlos Jr always customer friendly. When you ask for a bigger container for salsa or onions they tend to be stingy about it. I don't like that about the place but overall a good bite when in the area with reasonable prices.

    (4)
  • Brian G.

If you are looking for cheap, Mexican street food or taco shop, this is NOT the place to go. If you are looking for fresh, tasty, outstanding Mexican food then this IS the place! A little on the pricey side but well worth it. The portions are very generous, the service is always fast and friendly. You will not be disappointed. Try the chicken tacos "bravo style" this is an off menu option that I order all the time. Enjoy!

    (5)
  • Andre A.

I have been to this place several times and I usually order the 2 tacos charbroiled fish tacos ala carte. It comes out to just under 7 bucks or so and is much healthier than getting a number 3 at the local cheeseburger chain. The staff are always friendly and forward as they take care of everybody in a timely fashion. They are very busy at lunch time so I tend to go on off peak hours.

    (5)
  • Micki C.

Pure perfection, the food is amazing, staff is friendly, very laid back atmosphere. Win! Win! I'll be coming back on a regular basis....

Extremely unremarkable fish tacos. Small corn tortillas, the fish was cold, can't taste anything except the Pico de Gallo. Skip this one and go to the Shwack Beach Grill in Dana Point on Del Prado!

    (1)
  • Bita ..

I'm a picky eater .... And LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Carne Asada tacos alllllll dayyyy!! SO GOOD! Specially with a ton of lime from the salsa bar. I can't have the fish tacos bc it's breaded and I can't have gluten (Carne Asada with corn tortillas are fine) but I've heard the fish tacos are amazing. I actually was not a fan of the nachos!!! (I was shocked) the cheese was different, and the steak on it was partially red and didn't taste very good. (Totally not what you'd expect from this place - I guess it's good that it's steak/Carne on it instead of ground beef) But in general u can't go wrong with the tacos. Luckily the place is gluten friendly ;)

  • Chris M.

My family and I have been coming here for 15 years and it never changes! Consistently the same great food. I took my mother here for a mothers day lunch. You can never go wrong with Baja. She got Encinitas style fish taco (beer battered). I got a bit of it and it was amazing! I ordered the open burrito salad with campaign dressing. Everything tasted fresh and yummy. If you are first timers you cannot go wrong with the steak platter Everyone is super nice and don't end up spending a whole lot like a typical sit down restaurant

    (5)
  • Lincoln P.

The carne asada burrito hits the spot every time. I also tried the shrimp tacos the other day on a friend's recommendation and they did not disappoint. I feel the portion sizes are great, not too big, not too small. They are busy so the service at the counter is a little rushed but the food gets out timely considering how busy they get.

    (5)
  • Michael T.

You know it's something good when you take the first bite and you're completely blown away by how fresh all of the food is! The tortilla chips are otherworldly - I don't think I've ever had chips this crispy and delectable, with salsa and guacamole right on par. And that's just the appetizer! The burrito portion sizes are huge, and the platters really fill you up. Everything tasted very fresh! It's a pity that I hadn't discovered this place earlier!

Fresh ingredients and fast service. Grilled fish plate and tacos are awesome. This is place to make road trip and add to your memories. The spicy onion pickles are awesome!

  • Amanda P.

I gave 1 star because I couldn't give none. We at here for the first time today and not only did the work smirk when I requested easy beans and cheese on my sons burrito they completely forgot about our order and after 39 minutes watching people come and go we finally asked. All we get it "oh they forgot sorry" another 10 minutes out good comes up with no second apology and the food is so hot my son burns his mouth - We clearly waisted our Sunday afternoon here and will never return

    (1)
  • Vine L.

I'm disappointed that they no longer do the free birthday taco, but that doesn't change the fact that the food here is always fantastic.

  • Rebecca P.

Got your order to go? Styrofoam galore! Shame on them. But, seems to be the Laguna Niguel norm, so... no points off this time for that. But, given they have a few establishments, they should get on board with the whole preventing cancer and pollution thing. That said, the food is okay. I will admit others in my party said their tacos were good--especially the fish. But, my wet burrito was just okay. A bit salty by my taste (but I do say that a lot), but the chicken was cooked well and portion size was decent--especially since the burrito was a whopping $10!! I also tried some of the burrito sans wet, and it was a bit better; I think most of the saltiness was carried in the "wet" sauce, so I'd advise skipping that in your order--not worth the surcharge! Bottom line: Verdict is still out based on the fact that I didn't try their signature dish, but the burrito isn't worth bragging about.

I love the food. We go there to eat at least two days in a week. It seems to be fresh and delicious. Also the green salad is perfect.

Not to be confused with the mediocre "BAja fresh", this place has authentic, fresh tasting food with the atmosphere of modern casual dining. The food is great, and they have a good salsa bar.

  • Kim K.

My husband took me here one night a few months ago & I had the asada & chicken tacos. He got his fave..the shrimp tacos. He had been raving to me about their shrimp tacos for the longest time, but I'm not a fan of shrimp tacos. Until I had a bite of his..then my life was completely changed! No one in the world has better shrimp tacos than this place. I've had just about everything on the menu (not all on the same day) & it's ALL delicious, but the shrimp tacos are now MY fave. This place is awesome, the moment you walk in the aroma in the air is tantalizing! There's so much flavor with every bite of the shrimp tacos that it makes your taste buds dance, you can't help say "mmmmmm this is so good" every single time. The rice is PERFECT, both beans are amazing, tortillas & ingredients are fresh. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat & now we only live 5 minutes away!!!

  • Sean C.

I don't know what else too add, I never eat fish anywhere , but I love their blackened fish! I usually get the "unwrapped burrito" when I am eating healthy. I lost 40 lbs living on a diet of this salad almost daily! The only thing that they could do better is have kids size meals ....prices are good, food is great, their guacamole is awesome!

There are a lot of Mexican food places in Southern California and this one is a good one.

    (5)
  • Greg M.

First off, I judge Mex restaurants by beans and salsa. If you can't nail those you are done... The beans at Baja Fish Tacos are ridiculously good and the salsas great! Been here a couple times and never had anything I didn't love; fish tacos/burritos, carne asada etc. As much as I love eating at any of the ____berto's type of establishments, I feel guilty like I just took a couple years off my life. Here, the taste is matched by the quality so I don't have to feel like I just ate a weeks worth of lard. My go to for legit and delicious Mex food.

    (5)
  • Kara H.

A coworker suggested that we try this place and boy am I glad he did. My fiance and I eat here at least once a week. The place is usually pretty busy at dinner time and around 6 pm it is packed with families with young kids. The shrimp tacos are my favorite since I don't care for corn tortillas and these come on flour. The asada burritos are great too. I can see myself bringing my future kids to this place as it seems to be quite kid friendly. Great food, fun laid back atmosphere and cheap prices...

Ugghhhhhhh I wish they had this place by me because I would go there every single day! I love their fresh ingredients, fish tacos and guacamole!!!! This place is the bomb!!!!

sitting on the couch.... "whats for dinner tonight?" HEY LETS GET BAJA FISH TACOS, everyone in the room is always down! I always get the shrimp burrito, with a side of rice and beans. it has always been fresh and delicious and best of all HOT, and i always order to go. Don't forget to check out the great salsa and toppings bar. add the pico de gio, onions, and diced parsley to the rice and beans to make it truly heavenly.

Great food - the shrimp tacos are the best !!

  • Rod d.

It's the combination of Wahoo and Baja Fresh only better tasting than both. Wahoo's ambiance is better. Baja Fresh 's salsa bar id better. But in the end Baja Fish Taco's flavor won the day for me.

    (5)
  • David P.

Great food and the best fish tacos around. Salsa is excellent too - if I bring a pb&j to work sometimes I just go into their salsa bar, get a couple little containers and go back to my office where I have a bag of chips. So ghetto!

    (5)
  • T B.

Baja Fish...NOT to be confused with Baja Fresh. They are WORLD's apart. Baja Fish is hands down the best "fast food" Mexican establishments in the area. I am from San Diego, and we know good Mex food. I have been eating at the Santa Ana and Laguna Hills locations for years. At all of their locations the food is fresh and consistent. I can't say enough good things about what they offer. They have the Most amazing beans and white rice. You can't go wrong if you decide to eat here. Check it out, it WILL be worth it.

    (5)

Outstanding, casual, quick family place. Perfect for a day after the beach! Great customer service and outstanding, large portion food. In particular their shrimp tacos, their carne asada tacos and their chicken were awesome! Loved everything we had...very calm, casual, inexpensive and quick.

I love Mexican food and burritos most of all. So I ordered a charbroiled fish burrito. Good thing that is all I ordered. This burrito was HUGE! I like to unfold my burrito and add salsa and/or hot sauce. A lot of times when I do this and look inside I look at a lot of rice and beans and little else. Hmmm... :( Not this time. Easily a 12" tortilla stuffed with charbroiled fish plus some rice and beans. Oh, and it was SO yummy! I say good thing that is all I ordered because I was stuffed by the time I ate the last bit of it. To waste stomach capacity on chips would have been a shame.

Fresh salsa bar with choices: limes, whole chilis, red or green sauce, cilantro, onions, pickled... The veggie burrito is wonderful with roasted green onions and black beans all fat and gooey. Salads always fresh a little spare on the chicken. Fast. Pretty much only has bottled beer I don't think they have wine or full liquor license. The concrete floor and casual chairs bounces a good deal of noise. Often full of children. Not for a date. Family freindly

Everything here is good. Service is good. Food is good. Salsa is good. My co-workers and I can always agree to come here for lunch at least once a week. Good?

Fish tacos and bravo style anything else!! Don't know that I would recommend every single thing on their menu (the nachos look somewhat boring, but my kid loves them), but anything with cabbage and cotija cheese is fantastic. Good beer specials in the evening and on weekends. Popular with families, great place to go when you don't want to change out of your sweats. Not gourmet, but laid back comfort food.

Love it!! Come here every time I am on break from school. Really good Mexican food. I love everything that I have gotten there. It is really quick even when there is a line it goes by quickly. The sometimes you have to wait a couple mins for a table to be available. The longest I have had to wait for a table is 5 mins and then my food came as I sat down. It is a classier then a fast food place but it is still causal. It is also really cheap!!

The filet Mignon of fish tacos, but won't bite your budget. Surprisingly, it is almost the same price as Wahoo's and Baja Fresh.

Awesome blackened fish burritos! Eat here at least once a week, good service.

Gives Wahoo's a run for their money. Had an excellent fish taco/enchilada combo. Cheese and green sauce was fantastic on the enchilada and the taco was cooked perfectly. Rice was good as was the beans.

There's a reason why this place is always crowded. The rice and beans remind me so much of how mom makes them. I have tried everything on menu and have loved it. Shrimp and chicken platters are my favorite. The entire staff is quick n extremely helpful. Plus, the salsa bar is fresh and always yummy! Enjoy.

I like Baja Fish Tacos. The ensenada fish taco is a bit doughy for my taste but I love the unbreaded fish and shrimp dishes. The bowl with the fish, rice, and beans can fill you up for days. The quesadillas and nachos were a bit weird when I got them, like they used blocks of cheese. And there was like a whole piece of fish on the nachos, not really what I was expecting.

  • James H.

Hmmm, I was expecting something more from this spot. The tacos were pretty boring, fish was dry and our chips were soggy. We live 2 blocks away and I'm bound and determined to try again. Maybe we just arrived at the wrong time on the wrong day.......we will see.

I really like this place. It's very similar to Wahoos, but the carne asada and rice is consistently good, whereas wahoos can be a hit or miss. I also really like their charbroiled fish taco, which doesn't have any of the fishiness you sometimes get at wahoos. The place is much bigger than it looks from the outside.

Best Tacos anywhere. All of the food is great the fish is fresh and light. The chicken and steak are always good. The rice is so moist just top with your favorite salsa and it becomes brilliant. Try the blackened fish tacos and the shrimp, heck you should try everything! Don't forget to wash it down with the BOGO beer either. Their tacos are really so good that you could use them to compare others. I was eating the fish tacos appetizer at Ritz Carlton and actually said I can't believe they charge so much for these when Baja Fish Tacos are so much better.

This is the location of the first date with my now wife! I have never been a fan of seafood so when my blind date asked me to meet her there I was thinking, "ugh... Barf!" To my surprise there was soooo much more!! We now are married and live walking distance to Baja Fish. My favorite is the Carne Asada Burrito. Also, the Baja Bowl is awesome! Their salsa bar is always fresh and tasty! I did actually try the fish taco the other day and, well, YUM!! Clean, kid friendly and excellent staff. We have hit up the other locations but this one takes the cake! If you are looking for a yummy lunch or a quick, inexpensive dinner that's not fast food, look no further!

I'm a fan - fish tacos, salad, service. I have fish taco fever once or twice a week and only Baja Fish Taco can cure it.

I gave Baja Fish Tacos a 4/5 stars because the food is great, but it doesn't blow my doors off. The portions are large and the food is always fresh. I have yet to have something there that was not good. The price can add up quickly, just so you are aware. We live very close and go about once a month, though I wish we went more often. The place gets busy so try going a little early or a little late.

I do not understand how so many people can think that this is a good place to get mexican food. I have been here twice and both times the food was overpriced, bland, and totally disappointing. The main thing I want to stress is that there is nothing special about this place, yet they still charge twice as much as other mexican places that are better tasting than this place.

This place rocks! Great beans, great rice, great tacos, and a salsa bar. Honestly, what more can you ask for? On a Friday evening, I've seen the cashier line go nearly out the door. Locals love this place, and it shows.

Very good Mexican food and ample portions.. They have a pretty large variety of food to choose from, the only draw back in my opinion is that they are a bit pricey.

I have to give Baja a 5-star rating since it's the best in its genre of fast Mexican food. I've converted tons of people to this place. Every few weeks I get an urge to eat there and call up one of my buddies to join me. Uh oh, I think I need to go there right now! BTW--they support the local high school sports teams too.

This place is ok. I tried the Ensenada style fish taco, shrimp taco, carne asada taco, and Quesadilla. I did liked the salsa bar but the flavor of the food was just ok to me. Maybe I'm jaded or critical because I travelled extensively to Baja. I wished the beer batter fish tacos were bigger and crispier. The best dish for me was the Quesadilla which is ironic because of the name of this establishment. Cheers,

I love this place! I have lived near here for years and always wanted a good mexican joint I could go to. Who knew it was just a couple minutes from my house all along. The salsa bar is fresh, the guacamole is amazing (highly recommended). I recommend the chicken tacos, the chicken platter, and the chicken bowl. Also, the quesidillas are AMAZING. The only thing that kinda hurts my stomach is their shrimp there I have no idea why. It is tasty though. Also would recommend the iced tea if you are a fan of iced tea.

Exceptional and consistent. I've probably eaten here and at the one on Lake Forest Drive, a total of 75 times over the years and they always have consistently great food. The restaurants are always clean and the decor is what you'd expect in Baja. The fish tacos (both grilled and Ensenda style) are both excellent served with a fresh cabbage and healthy portion of fish. The shrimp tacos are exceptional and served with an excellent quality Cojita cheese. The buttered rice is great, as well. They have excellent salad options and the Beef or fish platters are also great. I've had their enchiladas a few times and while the sauce is very good, it's always a bit salty, but otherwise excellent. The salsa bar has some incredibly tasty options, is always fresh, and well stocked. Their tortilla chips are crisp and flaky, they way they should be. The workers here are always friendly, bring your meals to your table and genuinely want you to enjoy yourself. Pricing is mid to high for fish tacos, but worth every penny considering the quality is 5-stars. Highly recommended!

Love this place. I'm an east coast transplant and I've happily swapped pizza for fish tacos. Best black beans I've had. Great salsa bar. Blackened fish taco is my favorite, but the ensananda fish taco was great too.

We often go here for lunch. If I could give it 3 1/2 stars I would. Though not particularly cheap, you can get meal and soda for around $10. It's not great Mexican food but they do make fresh to order burritos, quesadillas, nachos and the like. Also, their guacamole is pretty good. They bring your food to the table and clear it as well which is nice and the staff is generally friendly and service is fairly quick. It can get busy during the lunch rush so arriving around 11:30 can help you get the table of your choice.

This place is the bomb. The wife had carne asada which was really good. I had the shrimp platter which was top notch. Rice, pinto beans, & guacamole (which was an unexpected surprise) came with the platter and were excellent. We will be back for another visit.

Southern Californian surfers are credited with having stolen Mexico's idea of fish tacos, and thankfully so. If you ever take the opportunity to visit one of several Baja Fish Taco locations in Orange County, you will be forever thankful to enterprising young surf-bums, who's southward migrations into Encenitas, Baja spawned a sub-genre of Mexican fast-casual diners here in the U.S. Call them thieves; I prefer to credit them with entrepreneurial savvy. Everything I've tried off their menu is superb. I highly recommend the shrimp and/or carne asada tacos. For the aspiring next host of "Man vs. Food', order 'with a meal', and begin preparing yourself for mass-consumption. My compliments to the surfer dude in the kitchen ladling generous amounts of cream sauce onto my twin-tortilla, Encenitas-style tacos. Whoa! Dude! Easy on the cabbage! After experiencing Baja Fish Tacos, Wahoos and Chronic can only be compared to chewing on a damp rag, wrapped in a tortilla, while in a drug induced, partial coma, surrounded by teen skate rebels.

This location needs a lot of work. First of all, tacos should come standard with onions and cilantro ...not everything on the side. Second of all get more staff at this location, so your employees can assist in proving salsa to customers when they order chips & salsa in addition to their food. by the time you get through the crazy line at the salsa bar, your food is COLD. Last thing, poor customer service by phone. You are clearly understaffed - I was placed on hold immediately when calling to place an order (mind you, without asking the customer) and then when the order was placed a total was not provided. When I called back less than a minute later to add something to the order, I was then immediately places on hold, to come to find out that they had already made the order And I was unable to add anything per this employee. Last but not least, my husband presented his credit card and it was declined for "incorrect expiration date" so the employee made an issue with him which required him to call me. I called baja fresh, was immediately placed on a lengthy hold again, and then provided The identical credit card number to this employee...which she put into her computer and again verbalized the card was declined. I informed her this card was perfectly valid and after three attempts, I asked her to try a different machine. Well guess what? It was approved! This location really needs to step it up with customer service. I can't imagine coming back here. Despite having to eat cold food due to their poor service.

i've eaten here about 8-10 times, amazingly fresh, healthy & tasty food & hand's down best green sauce i've ever had. i'm a huge sauce queen and love spicy so i usually go for the red sauce but i'm going back tonight to literally drink the green sauce, it's extremely flavorful, zesty, right amount of spice and all around delicious. this place is a six minute walk from my house so i walk there a lot and snag some blackened or ensenada style fish tacos, their chips are amazing too. can't go wrong. warning: if you get your food to-go, they don't put pico in it so make sure to grab it & take it with you, i found out the hard way a couple times. i forgive you baja :)

The best place to come to Laguna Niguel in a long, long time. It is very reasonably priced, and a classic example of how no-nonsense freshness is really all that matters in a good Mexican lunch. I would suggest sticking to the seafood-- it really is what they do best. I love the grilled or blackened fish burrito. Fresh fish and shrimp are always winners, and I am a sucker for their pinto beans and white Mexican rice. If you have room, their guacamole is the best I've had anywhere. The salsa bar is available to satisfy any additional flavor needs you may have. No matter how long the line is, they will always take your order quickly, and bring out a fresh plate of food faster than you can get a soda and your salsa. For an area that is severely lacking in delicious Mexican food (for So Cal), this is really a shining star.

Good Mexican food, great portions and reasonably priced. Parking not the best. Often crowded but better than going to a restaurant without customers and lousy food. I usually get the blackened chicken burrito with rice any pinto beans. Beans are fresh, not refried and warmed over. Quick service. Highly recommend it.

Holy Salsa Bar, Batman!!! I have to say one of my favorite Mexican joints in Southern California, so good I dream that I eat there everyday. Cool SoCal decor and catchy Spanish tunes in the background. I sometimes catch myself humming tunes that I didn't realize I knew. Fish Platter - $10 Their Blacken Fish is mouthwatering, I put some lime juice on the fish and I'm in heaven! This fish platter combo is served with corn tortilla, tomatoes and the most awesomely good thing about California being so close to Mexico.....Great Guacamole! (I'm from the Chicagoland area and the avocados here are to say wahhh! ) oh...and I can't forget the buttery white rice and black beans!..GIVE ME! GIVE ME! but wait kids we aren't done...while your waiting for your plate, stroll to their salsa bar to accessorize your platter. You will not be disappointed taking a peak at the bar. Lots to choose from and you can get as much as you can handle. Another good things I've had was their Fish tacos served with rice and beans..but this a staple for SoCal Mexican food so if you have never tried a fish taco and are willing to do so I would suggest that this place be your cherry popper. Because it's Magically delicious! Oh yes, they have a good selection of Jarritos for you Jarritos fans. Baja Fish Tacos has definitely GNARLY Food! Can't wait for my next trip to SoCal!

There's a party in my tummy. So yummy. So yummy. Awesome shrimp taco...but $3..80 for a taco...pretty steep. Wish they had a Taco Tuesday special. They have HH specials after 3 ($2.50 a beer). Gets crowded Saturday afternoons but you don't have to wait more than 10 minutes. I've been other days and no lines. So, their shrimp are plump and nicely seasoned. I've had the carne asada platter, but the shrimp is my fav. Shrimp tacos have cabbage blend, baja sauce and cojija cheese...can you tell I really like their shrimp tacos ? :p

Love this place. Great food and busy all the time. The ensenatas fish tacos are the best. They have excellent non-fish dishes as well. Be sure to.order the pinto beans and help yourself to delicious fresh salsa at the salsa bar.

Almost on a weekly basis over the past 4 years or so, we have bought the 2 fish taco combo with black beans and rice and had it take out. For $8.47 or so it can't be beat. We share it at home and leaves just enough room for dessert ! :) We once ate inside and it was just too noisy for us "seasoned citizens" so it's been take-out ever since. We have tried Rubio's and Baja Fresh but really can't compare the quality of the fish. A really generous sized portion and not deep fried or battered. Just good healthy food at a reasonable price.

Gringo Food Some what disapointed alot of the reviews (but that seems to be the case on YELP...) were really good 4stars not sure why thou...my chix burritto tasted like chipotle I guess I will give it another try someone said the fish is what they do best I'll try it mayb... Yelp should show the age of the users or some how make their rating count less because it seems like the younger yelpers havent developed their taste budds yet so everything to them seems to taste good...kidding, not really thou...lol

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
